Last week, something truly special happened in Wrocław. The SIMPAL project team gathered for a unique project meeting – not in a conference room, but in a real school that takes part in the project!
We met at Primary School No. 32, where we had the pleasure of talking with the principal and one of the amazing teachers involved. What made this visit so inspiring was hearing how deeply physical activity is part of this school’s everyday life. Over the years, by joining different European projects, movement has become part of their DNA – not just something extra, but something essential.
From the teacher’s point of view, the impact is real. She shared how kids light up when using resources like Krokiet and Lama Academy videos. Even if it means doing more than the regular curriculum asks for, it’s worth it. The kids are happier, more focused, and more engaged. And thanks to the ready-made materials and support from the SIMPAL project, teachers don’t feel like they’re on their own – they feel supported, guided, and truly part of the project team.
One highlight of the visit was seeing the pupils take part in a fun and meaningful activity called Storm Chasers. It’s designed to help kids recognise their emotions and deal with the difficult ones – all through movement. This is what Physically Active Learning is all about: learning not just through sitting and listening, but by moving, experiencing, and feeling.
During the meeting, we also discussed the progress of the project as the school year in Poland is coming to an end. We talked about the next steps and how SIMPAL will be featured at the upcoming MOVE Congress – an exciting opportunity to share what we’ve learned so far.
We were also joined by a representative from EACEA, who guided us through important reporting and administrative aspects of the project. It was a busy and meaningful day in Wrocław.
But that’s not all!
Another big reason we came to Wrocław was the Moving People – Moving Poland conference. Inspired by ISCA’s flagship event Moving People – Moving Europe, this local edition brought together teachers, school leaders, and local officials from all across Poland.
Over three days (11–13 June), we explored how movement can change lives – in schools, communities, and even in policy-making. Experts in physical activity, education, inclusion, and mental health shared their ideas and experiences, making it a truly inspiring event.
One of the most touching moments was the very first ISKRA (Spark) Awards ceremony, celebrating those who go above and beyond every day to support children and young people through movement. We were proud to present awards in seven categories, including one linked to our SIMPAL project! The most active and dedicated teachers will now join us at the MOVE Congress 2025 in Copenhagen – a well-deserved recognition for their incredible work.
Wrocław showed us that when movement meets education, amazing things happen!
